The American Academy of Pediatrics recently published a report that included an important list of recommendations they developed to reduce the risk of sleep-related deaths. “Avoid overheating and head coverings in infants” was listed as one of their highest level recommendations.

Neut knows your baby’s clothing, you enter the room temperature, and Neut uses proprietary algorithms to create ‘Thermal Maps’ that allow it to make sleep-time outfit recommendations that are a ‘thermal match’, designed for thermoneutrality.
-
Simply put, thermoneutrality is the ideal condition of being just right…not too hot and not too cold. Babies and adults alike are most comfortable in this state. Maintaining this state not only promotes safe and restful sleep, it allows a baby’s metabolic processes to focus energy on healthy growth and development.
-
Its a numerical value that describes the match between the amount of warmth an outfit will provide and the room temperature. For example, a baby may be more comfortable in lower Neut Number outfits, which would provide slightly less warmth that those with a higher number. Note that 0.7 is as low as the number goes, and 1.3 is the upper limit.
-
If you’re not sure where to start, select an outfit with a Neut Number of 1, in the ‘Mid’ (green) range. If you think your baby ‘runs cool’, select something from the ‘Warmer’ range (Neut Number = 1.1 to 1.3), for example. Remember to check-in on your baby to see how they’re doing and assess the thermal match for yourself.
-
Yes! Once you know your babies preferred Neut Number, no matter what the room temperature is, you can select any outfit recommended with the same Neut Number and its likely your baby will always feel the same. Just right!.
-
Check for signs of overheating such as sweating, especially on the neck or back, flushed skin, or if the baby feels hot to the touch. Rapid breathing and irritability may also indicate overheating. Babies that are too hot or too cold may be restless and sleep poorly. If you are not sure if your baby is overheating, or too cold when sleeping, seek medical guidance.

Yes! Neut knows it takes a village. Simply go to the main menu icon, then ‘Baby Information’ and add up to two email addresses for the family members you’d like to have access to Neut. Those family members can then download the App for free, and using their e-mail address will be connected.
-
Yes. You need to consider them a set and enter them as one. Enter them as, “Footless Romper PJ’s,” when asked “What type is it?” Make sure you take a photo that has them both in it, so you know to use them together when Neut recommends them.
-
The Recent Outfits feature is a historical log of Sleep Sessions. It shows what the baby was wearing, the room temperature and the score you gave the outfit after the sleep. 5 star reviews indicate a Sleep Session where the caregiver found that the selected clothing contributed highly to a good sleep, for example. If you have the same room temperature as a 5 star match, and the clothing is available, simply press on the outfit in Recent Recommendations and you can launch automatically into a Sleep Session with just one press!

Most parents find its quick and easy to add a wardrobe. It typically takes less than 10 minutes to enter the most important items.
-
Yes! Once you’ve entered a wardrobe you don’t need to do it again. You can add or delete items anytime to keep it current.
